Silver Cord Program

The Silver Cord program is a voluntary opportunity for students to get involved not only in their school, but their community as well. Developing a sense of voluntarism early in life benefits the students, community, school, and everyone else along the way. It’s also a great way to organize service hours so it’s easy to look back when needed for future applications and resumes. This program is to help students learn how to better serve the people around them, and learn the sense of accomplishment that accompanies volunteering.

Over their 4 years at GHS, Silver Cord members will be expected to earn 100 hours of volunteer work, from at least 3 different types of organizations.  Students that can meet these standards will then be honored with a silver cord to wear at graduation.
